Next to the Barcelona Cathedral

Scenes from Lately

Here are some of my scenes from lately taken from my Instagram.

Sometimes I like to pretend to be a tourist in Barcelona, admire and photograph the city as if it were my first time. Here we have two photos of the Cathedral of Barcelona. One is the front with the beautiful blue sky. The other is a charming side of the cathedral with an arch. These two photos were taken with only about 5 minutes difference. Isn’t it amazing what different angles do to the lighting effects in a photo… Let’s not take too much into account the fact that different filters can also play their part.

I think in all the history of my blog I still haven’t declared one crucial fact about myself: I love ice cream! This ice cream was not the first I’ve had this spring.

There are often vintage car parades in Barcelona during the weekends. Last week there was a vintage bus parade instead.

We have a friend over visiting and I have received this amazing box of Swiss cooking chocolate. Don’t be fooled by this photo, that is a huge 1kg chocolate there. Any suggestions of what I can do with it? Taking advantage of his visit we went out for a sangria.

One of the cool public transport systems in Barcelona is the Bicing, the public bicycle system. I usually use it to go to the pool.

Lastly, I got to admire many artistic vintage pianos at the Museum of Music of Barcelona. I just wished I could have tried one out.

Thank you for reading!

I'm Sofia. Australian, Indonesian and Spanish. Lived in {too} many countries. Currently based in Barcelona. I adore playing miserable romantic classical piano. Papaya Pieces is where I store some recipes and memories.

  1. Sofia, I love these photos! :-) The last time I had a plethora of dark, imported chocolate, I made double chocolate brownie cookies (recipe on the blog). I think they use a pound of chocolate or something, instead of the butter. Haha. The chocolate photo is actually my favorite, next to the bike and ice-cream one. Enjoy your day in fun-filled Barcelona! Shanna xx

  2. OOO Sangria! I don’t drink much at all, but whenever I see Sangria on the menu, I tend to go ahead and get one :)

  3. wow, one KILO of cooking chocolate! Now, let’s see … you could make a super chocolaty gateaux? I think that’s what I would do with cooking chocolate. ;-)
Love all of your other pictures, Sofia … they look great presented all together like that! I used to like pretending to be a tourist in Athens sometimes, too!

  4. Love the Barcelona pics, as I maybe told you already one of my favorite cities. My fiancé used to live there for 2 years and I have visited many times. I know that second photo very well, I take pictures of it every time I visit ;-)
Oh yum, the chocolate – you could make a flour less chocolate cake, or a chocolate soufflé…..the possibilities are endless!! Gotta love chocolate! hugs

    • I love the spot of that second photo too :) Yes the possibilities are endless and with 1 whole kilo of it, there are many things I could do! We’ll see what happens to it in the end. Hugs

  5. Guillermina Bósquez Stover

Gorgeous photos, Sofia, just gorgeous! They look so retro, especially you in that chic striped Coco Chanel-inspired top! Love them all. And I salivate, just salivate at the chocolate, plus I’m absolutely GREEN with envy. I make a wonderful “Mexican Chocolate Pots de Creme” but of course, I use, ahem Mexican Chocolate, which has cinnamon and sugar…but I bet you can make a delicious pots de creme with THAT decadent chocolate…yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm….

    • I’ll have to look up Mexican Pots de Creme :) The secret of the retro looking shots is cheating by editing with filters ;) or perhaps the vintage buses have something to do with it… Wishing you a great week ahead Guillermina!

  6. Great photos! If I had a phone that could take Instagram yours would be the second account I would follow ;)

As for the chocolate, either make lots of brownies, a huge chocolate orange mousse, Or you could try bathing in it, in a strange twist on Cleopatra style baths…..

  7. Great set of photos…you have really become the professional so quickly! Each one a perfect selection and different view of what looks like a great day in Barcelona. Ice cream, cathedrals, sangria and then you on the bike…very nice.
